A Bay Area native, Marilyn Van Story was raised in Piedmont and attended UC Berkeley and Georgetown University. Before becoming a realtor, Marilyn spent 30 years in the business world, first as a legal secretary in San Francisco, then as Assistant to the President of a Palo Alto based consulting engineering firm. Transferred to Washington, DC in 1984 to open a regional office, Marilyn moved onto the diplomatic field where she was a speechwriter for the Bahraini Ambassador to the US. In 1996, she returned to the Bay Area to be near her daughter and now is the proud grandmother of three grandsons.
Marilyn served six years on the Board of Directors of 3rd Walnut Creek Mutual representing Projects 36 and 37. Marilyn remembers attending a benefit in 1958 in the gardens of the Stanley Dollar home, the site of the present Stanley Dollar Clubhouse. She has been coming to Rossmoor since 1975 when her parents purchased a Tahoe manor. She has lived in Rossmoor since 1996 and believes the services, amenities and security are strong selling points to potential buyers. Marilyn is known for her attention to detail and follow-through.
